    • A limited edition copy of Kara Walker's magnificent 1997 pop-up silhouette book, Freedom: A Fable.Pop-up artist book, with offset lithographs and five laser-cut pop-ups. 1997. A fine copy in a full red leather binding as issued. (Each year, Peter Norton, the software engineer/entrepreneur (“Norton Utilities”) and philanthropist, commissioned a work to celebrate Christmas. Laid into this copy is the Norton family’s 1997 Christmas card, depicting their two children and giving details of the book’s author.)

    • Extensive collection of more than 600 sporting books, especially angling (including fly-tying and fly-fishing) and hunting, from the estate of noted specialist antiquarian bookseller, Judith Bowman. As they came from a dealer, there are often duplicate copies. All are attractively priced, many are signed, and most are in superlative condition, as she was noted for the quality of her books. Includes a number of reprinted Derrydale Books, published in Lyons, Mississippi. Some books contain the bookplate of famed angling collector and publisher Jeffrey Norman.
    • Books about James Joyce collected by Dr. Benjamin Erger (1899-2001). Erger served in both the Marines during World I and in the Army Medical Corp during World War II
    • From the family of actor Jose Ferrer, his library, largely performing arts and many with his ownership signature and date acquired, the earliest going back to his student days at Princeton (Class of 1933). Also, some books belonging to his wife, singer Rosemary Clooney. 
    • Heritage Press, mostly from a single collector, over 200 titles in slipcase, all together in the main tent.
    • From the estate of longtime Forbes editor (1961-1999) James Mitchell, his library of important business books.
    • The Beatles. Back again this year, more music, movies, and memoirs. Everything together on the Fab Four.
    • Mountaineering: Whether you're a thrill-seeking climber or an armchair mountaineer, this year features the recently available collections of two local adventurers. Includes maps, guides, and journals.
    • Vinyl records, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks & more.

  • As the Westport Library begins its major transformation, these library reference sets have been withdrawn and are offered for sale:
    • Grove Dictionary of Art, 1996, 34 volumes, complete
    • New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, 2001, 29 volumes, complete
    • Something About the Author: Facts and Pictures about Contemporary Authors and Illustrators of Books for Young People. 164 volumes, Vol.1 (1971) to Vol.164 (2006).

  • Leftovers: The Friends will donate the "leftovers" from the 2017 Fair to non-profit organizations (schools, churches, etc.) who can come on Sunday, August 5 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and pick them up. Books will be given away on a first-come-first-serve basis. Non-profit organizations interested in any of the leftover items should click here to sign up online or contact Erica Land at 441-2300 ext.1582 prior to the Fair.
  • Volunteers: Approximately 300 volunteers are needed for a successful Book Fair. If you would like to help with set-up on Thursday, August 3 or work a shift at the Fair, click here to sign up online. Volunteer jobs include stocking tables, tallying sales, cashiering, providing information and loading and unloading trucks.
